The town of Cave Creek to undergo fire station leasing and purchasing project

    2021-08-23

CAVE CREEK, AZ – The town of Cave Creek Council Members authorized leasing and purchasing of a property located at 37042 N. Cave Creek Rd. to later be used as a fire station. The process was based on the final vote at the Regular Council Meeting on August 16.

Under the current fire protection, Cave Creek residents shall pay a monthly fee for fire services to The Rural Metro Fire Department. The model causes a setback on rescue management in a sudden outbreak, as the Town will depend on neighboring cities’ resources.

The effort is the most economical choice to secure Town-owned fire and emergency protection assets at a lower cost. Council Members will enter into the four-month Lease agreement from this September 15, 2021, to January 15, 2022. It will progress until reaching the final purchase during January 2022.

The designated fire station will have the initial operating expenses of $2.7 million, including the acquisition of the property, emergency assets, and many more, with no tax increase. These will include in the 2021-2022 fiscal budget year from current financial resources. Furthermore, the town will develop the fire station’s sustainable process with experts and the community.

The property acquisition and budget allocation have completed the goal of the Town Council in Resolution No. R2021-06 to fulfill the assets and requirements to participate in applying for Regional Automatic Aid System. In the process, the Council has been discussing with the Automatic Aid provider to proceed for Automatic Aid membership.

Residents are encouraged to support the Town by participating in the coming Regular Council discussions available both in-person at the Town Hall and remotely by Zoom. They can get notifications regarding them by clicking the “Notify Me” link on the Town’s web page.
