Rio Salado College Northern to celebrate ten year anniversary with milestones

    2021-08-24

PHOENIX, AZ – Current and former staff, college leaders, and community partners of Rio Salado College Northern commemorated the college’s ten years of service on August 18.

Since opening in 2011, the Arizona Department of Education has honored the Arizona Adult Education Program of the Year for three respective years – from 2018 to 2020 – to Rio Salado College Northern and its sister college in Tempe.

Furthermore, Elizabeth “E” Cole, Rio Salado’s Director of Community Partnerships, stated the student service, facilities, and community partners’ unified school districts were what made the college deserved the award.

Rio Salado College Northern initially made a step by offering classes in Paradise Valley mall. Nowadays, it has its building to provide access to test preparations, English language classes, Adult Achieving a College Education program, and accommodate more than 8,500 students to achieve High School Equivalency.

In July 2021, The college opened One-Stop Student Services to assist students with academic advising, admission, records, cashiers, and limited financial aid, so they don’t have to go to Tempe’s Rio Salado College. Seven advisors are up to meet them on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Cole appreciated the staff’s hard work in developing the college to achieve the milestone. She then added her expectation to the college’s improvements made on the next anniversary.

“With a decade under its belt, Northern has set a high standard for quality Adult Education. We’re proud of all the hard work of our Northern instructors and staff and look forward to seeing Northern grow over the next ten years. Here’s looking forward to the 20-year anniversary, when we go from tin & aluminum to brilliant platinum,” She said.
