Goodyear Police chief gives suggestion in helping the homeless

GOODYEAR, AZ - A lot of people want to involve themselves in helping homeless people, those who are unlucky enough to lose their job or just need some help to stand back on their feet. In this case, David Farrow, the Goodyear Deputy Police Chief is suggesting the best ways to help the people in need.

The frequently asked question is what we should do when we meet a homeless. Farrow stated that giving them help or money directly on the curbside of the road is not the best way to help them. Instead, the better way is offering the homeless programs from the city.

The City of Goodyear Police Department has the Homeless Outreach Team or HOT that aids people who want to help the homeless in Goodyear with some resources to help them. In addition, there are also approved charities by GiveSmartAZ.org that include shelter, food, and other assistance for the homeless.

HOT also partners with the Phoenix Rescue Mission and several other organizations in addressing this homelessness. GiveSmartAZ also allows every citizen to donate and give help to those who really need it.

Following his statement, Farrow said that helping the homeless via donations through these organizations will reduce the risk from people who take advantage of this situation.

About HOT, its main function is to contact every homeless individual and providing them with secured resources. It also helps them with several shelter or housing programs including community education programs. HOT also keeping its partnerships with other departments or businesses in helping the homeless.
