The city of Phoenix to pursue pollutions decrease in 2050 by promoting electric vehicles

    2021-08-27

PHOENIX, AZ – The city of Phoenix promotes electric-powered vehicles to residents as an approach to strive for Greenhouse Gas Emissions, or GHGs, reduction targets by 2050.

Since the city becomes one of the cities with the worst air quality in the U.S., it increases the vulnerability of the Phoenix residents to suffer from visibility and respiratory health issues.

In advance, electric-powered vehicles have many amenities compared to their gasoline counterpart, including better performance, quiet, vibration-free, saves thousands of dollars on fuel and maintenance, and empowering economic independence and development. Residents can also save time from a long queue at the gas station since they can charge their vehicles at home.

The benefits of the electric-powered vehicle have been proven true by its owners in the city of Phoenix. Blake Aaron, one of Phoenix's electric car owners, stated he could save his budget for gas after converting to an electric vehicle. He then added the car is more than just transportation; it reduces environmental impacts for the planet.

Citizens may not worry if they usually travel a long distance, as electric-powered vehicles have many models ranging between 100 and 400 miles per charge. Arizona has 481 stations with 1,417 charging outlets in case their automobiles are running out of battery.

The electric-powered vehicle promotion is one of the City’s approaches, along with many renewable energy programs, to achieve the designated air quality and visibility index of 90 percent or more by 2050.

Citizens can ask for detailed information about the electric-powered vehicle program by contacting Karen Apple, Electric Vehicle Program Manager, at 602-261-8660 or email at karen.apple@phoenix.gov.
