Lightning late last Thursday sparked the Rough Mountain fire, off Route 42 near the Bath-Alleghany County line. By Saturday morning, more than 40 firefighters were battling the blaze, estimated at more than 80 acres.
37-Year-Old Virginia Man Arrested for Allegedly Shooting at Teenagers in Clifton Forge – Leaving One Injured
Arrest Made – Allegedly Shooting of Teenager in Alleghany County, VA. Clifton Forge Incident – Man Charged with Malicious Wounding and Firearm Offenses. According to the WDBJ 7, in Alleghany County, Virginia, a 37-year-old man named William Christoffer Sorrels was arrested for allegedly shooting a teenager. Early Thursday morning, a Clifton Forge police officer responded to a call about four people outside a house on Staunton Street. When the officer arrived, he heard gunshots and saw that Sorrels had allegedly fired at a white Nissan Altima leaving the scene. The officer detained Sorrels and took an AR .223 firearm. Sorrels is charged with malicious wounding, using a firearm in a felony, and allegedly shooting at an occupied vehicle.
