Emporia State volleyball announces their 2024 schedule which includes three non-conference tournaments and five home MIAA matches. The Hornets open the season at the Kansas City Classic Sept. 5-7 hosted by Rockhurst and William Jewell. Emporia State's first match is against Rockhurst on Sept. 5 before two games on Sept. 6 against Sioux Falls and William Jewell. The tournament wraps up against Winona State on Sept. 7.

With more rain in forecast, Flood Watch issued for Topeka and vicinity
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - With more rain in the forecast, the National Weather Service office in Topeka has issued a Flood Watch for much of northeast and east-central Kansas. The Flood Watch is scheduled to be in effect from 5 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday morning in Shawnee, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Lyon, Morris, Osage, Wabaunsee, Jackson, Jefferson, Pottawatomie and Riley counties.
City Commission action and study meetings coming Tuesday
Emporia City Commissioners are convening a day earlier than normal for their regular action and study meetings this week. Commissioners will convene Tuesday at 11 am for their regular action meeting inside of the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium. Only three items are on the agenda including a resolution to establish a public hearing to possibly declare the Gazette Building Development as a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (RHID) in downtown Emporia.
