    Marlington Alumni Association awards $152,750

    Members of the Marlington High School Class of 2024 received $152,750 in scholarships during the Marlington Alumni Association banquet.

    During the event, Vondea Sheaffer introduced 1989 graduate Rick Baxter as the winner of the 2024 Outstanding Alumni Award. Baxter shared memories from his Marlington years and encouraged graduates to pursue their passions.

    The meeting continued with awarding 70 scholarships to 60 students for various fields of study:

    Karlee Scott received the Elizabeth Albright Education Scholarship, Mary Louise Bixler Education Scholarship, and Thomas Family Scholarship. She will attend Stark State College to finish her associate's degree, then transfer to Kent State University to study education.

    Sarah Hegenderfer received the Louise Bingham Memorial Scholarship and Kimi Korleski Memorial Scholarship. She will attend the University of Akron to study music education with a minor in music composition.

    Kamden Tanner received the Mary Louise Bixler Education Scholarship and McIntosh Family Scholarship. He will attend University of Mount Union, where he will study elementary education.

    Brianna Waite received the Barbara Yoder Hall Memorial Scholarship and Hastings Scholarship. She will attend Kent State University to study journalism and library and information sciences.

    Grace Harris received the Hal and Ruth Sweitzer Scholarship. She will attend the University of Akron to study graphic design.

    Emily Fox received the Greiner Family Band Scholarship. She will attend Ohio University to study biological sciences.

    Hope Baer received the Howard and Ruthann Dickerhoof Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Mount Union to study nursing.

    Jozie Cobb received the Carol Teutsch Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Mount Union to study biology.

    Carter Hill received the Ford C. Davis Scholarship. He will attend Mount Union to study computer and electrical engineering.

    Mahlen Lambdin received the Harold (Bud) and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Devies Scholarship. He will study biomedical science at University of Akron.

    Trevor Arnett received the Donald Moore Memorial Scholarship. He will study data science and analytics at University of Mount Union.

    Kelsey Nieman received the Frank and Anna Carozzi Memorial Scholarship. She will study finance at Ohio State University.

    Dillan Hawthorne received the Lee and Carolyn Gabric Scholarship and Mike and Linda Pauli Family Scholarship. He plans to work in landscaping and own his own business one day.

    Bo Bratten, Luke Dipold, Caiden O'Brien and Kendra Scott received the James Krabill Memorial Scholarship. Bratten will attend University of Akron to study biomedical science and pre-med. Dipold plans to study pre-med at Kent State University. O’Brien will study neuroscience at University of Toledo. Scott will attend Aultman College to study nursing.

    Edward Linihan received the Pontius Family Scholarship. He plans to study aerospace engineering at Ohio State.

    Jeremy Toole received the Howard and Berdine Strouble Scholarship and the Richard W. and Annabelle Bohaychyk Memorial Scholarship. He is pursuing an associate’s degree in the light duty diesel program at University of Northwestern Ohio.

    Audrey Miller received the Ramser Scholarship. She is studying early childhood education with a minor in Spanish at University of Toledo.

    Beau Himmelheber received the General John Churchill Academic Warrior Award. He will major in business and minor in biology at Walsh University.

    Colin Cernansky and Janelle Swisher received the Scott and Cheryl Robertson Scholarship. Cernansky will study business with an emphasis on supply chain management at Ohio State. Swisher will study business management at Kent State University.

    Ashton Mason received the Franklin L. (Butch) Muniz Baseball Scholarship. He will study biochemistry at Ohio University.

    Ty Knoch received the Battershell Family Scholarship. He will study criminal justice at Walsh University before attending the police academy.

    Trevor Holona received the Richard W. and Annabelle Bohaychyk Memorial Scholarship. He hopes to obtain a degree in applied engineering at Spitzer University.

    Daniel Gates received the Richard W. and Annabelle Bohaychyk Memorial Scholarship and the Ed and Linda Kuvlesky Scholarship. He will study structural and oil pipe welding at the Cleveland Welders Union.

    Carter DiFloure received the Lexington Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. Scholarship in Memory of Berkley Barker. DiFloure will study nursing at Louisiana State University.

    Carmine Schwinn received the Coastal Pet-Stout Family Scholarship. Carmine will study structural and oil pipeline welding after working at Technibus.

    Morgan Swaggard received the Coastal Pet-Stout Family Scholarship. Swaggard will study veterinary technology at Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

    Joel Sweitzer received the Coastal Pet-Stout Family Scholarship. He will apprentice to become an inside wireman electrician at the Canton Electrical JATC.

    Emmerson Sambroak received the Coastal Pet-Stout Family Scholarship. Sambroak will study dental hygiene at Stark State University.

    Calvin Bungard and Aleesa Horn received the Ed and Linda Kuvlesky Scholarship. Bungard will pursue a career in culinary arts, and media and arts. Horn will study culinary arts at Hocking College.

    Jamisen Carver and Dylan Kamerer received the Walter Family Scholarship. Carver plans to study nursing at Kent State. Kamerer will study business and management at Stark State College.

    Katelyn Scott received the Class of 1966 Military Award. She has enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years under a military intelligence contract.

    Chloe Turner received the Class of 1968 Scholarship. She plans to study radiology at Kent State University.

    Wyatt Dillon received the Class of 1990 Scholarship. He will study biology at University of Toledo.

    Emma Ritchie received the Class of 1990 Scholarship. She will study criminology/criminal justice at University of Akron.

    Emma Dean received the Class of 1973 Scholarship. She hopes to study wildlife resource management at Hocking College.

    Nelda Bullock and Abigail Hartzler received the Gulling Family Scholarship. Bullock will study bible and theology or missions and cross-cultural ministries at Malone University. Hartzler will study social work at Ohio University.

    Stella Blake received the Howard F. and Trudy S. Kitzmiller Student Athlete Award. She plans to study business at University of Mount Union.

    Henry Nase received the Thomas Hazen Memorial Scholarship and the Denver Werstler Memorial Scholarship. Nase will study pre-med at University of Cincinnati.

    Josh Tarter received the Wayne and Bertha McAlister Scholarship. He will study business and accounting at Baldwin Wallace University.

    Cameryn Mitchell received the Pete Moulin Scholarship. He will study business/marketing but hasn’t decided where.

    Nelda Bullock received the Rita Moulin Scholarship. She will study bible and theology or missions and cross-cultural ministries at Malone University.

    Ava Clough received the Robert E. and William E. Patton Scholarship. She will study business management or human resources at Mount Union.

    Abigail Hartzler received the Gerald P. Burke Scholarship. She will study social work at Ohio University.

    Alex Ritchie received the Melvin J. Snode Memorial Scholarship. He will study education and minor in music at Mount Union.

    Sophia Vigliotti received the Ede Carretta Family Scholarship. She will major in psychology at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
