    Marlington's Colin Cernansky leads 2024 All-Stark County Boys Track and Field Team

    Marlington’s Colin Cernansky raised the bar for future high school track and field athletes. No one will be surprised if it takes a while before we see anyone like him again.

    Cernansky is The Repository’s Stark County Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year for 2024. He won Division II state championships in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters and anchored a state runner-up 3,200 relay team in his final high school season.

    An Ohio State signee, Cernansky set all-time county records in the 800 with a time of 1:50.96, the 1,600 with a 4:07.53 and the 3,200 with an 8:58.96. He broke the 1,600 record when he won his third straight state title.

    Cernansky was named Male Athlete of the Year at the Greater Akron-Canton High School Sports Awards. He ended his career with 10 state championships.

    Marlington’s Bob Dagenhardt is the Male Track and Field Coach of the Year. He led the Dukes to the Eastern Buckeye Conference championship, a district team title and a fifth-place finish at the state meet.

    Here is a look at the all-county team with bios on the first team selections.

    First team

    Logan Allman, Northwest, soph.

    • Allman won Stark County and Division II district titles in the 300 hurdles. He also was a regional qualifier in the 110 hurdles. His season-best times of 14.95 seconds in the 110 hurdles and 39.80 in the 300 hurdles ranked No. 2 in the county.

    Isaiah Barker, Hoover, jr.

    • After finishing 30th in the long jump at the district meet as a sophomore, Barker had a breakthrough 2024 season. He won his first Division I state title and had a season-best jump of 23 feet, 10.25 inches. Barker also helped the Vikings' 800 relay finish fifth at state.

    Carson Basham, Perry, sr.

    • Basham won a county title and was a Division I state qualifier in the 200. His season-best time of 21.67 ranked No. 2 in the county. He also helped the Panthers’ 800 relay reach the state meet.

    Luke Buxton, East Canton, sr.

    • Buxton won a Division III regional title and finished fifth at state in the 800. He also helped East Canton’s 1,600 and 3,200 relays qualify for regionals.

    • DiMarzio won his first county title and was a Division I regional qualifier in the 100. His season-best time of 10.67 seconds ranked No. 2 in the county.

    Alston Ellis, Jackson, jr.

    • Ellis made his first state meet appearance and finished 14th in the Division I discus. He had a top throw of 157-9 this season.

    Cameron Evanich, Marlington, fr.

    Ryder Greenwood, GlenOak, sr.

    • Greenwood had a big hand in the Golden Eagles winning Division I district and regional team titles. He qualified for the state meet in the 100 and 200 and anchored GlenOak’s 400 relay to a fourth-place finish. He led the county with season-best times of 10.65 in the 100 and 21.35 in the 200.

    Carson Hoffman, Jackson, sr.

    • Hoffman was a Division I regional qualifier in the 300 hurdles. His season-best time of 39.23 led the county. He also helped Jackson’s 1,600 relay reach the state meet.

    Eli Ilg, Jackson, jr.

    • Ilg is one of the state's top Division I runners. He came in eighth in the 3,200 in his second state appearance. He had season-best times of 9:08.44 in the 3,200 and 4:14.05 in the 1,600.

    Julius Kimbrough, Canton South, sr.

    Lisbon James, GlenOak, jr.

    • James is the reigning county champion in the discus. He ranked No. 1 this season with a top throw of 158-6.5.

    Skylan King, GlenOak, jr.

    Joshua Landes, Lake, jr.

    • Landes made his first state meet appearance and finished 17th in the Division I shot put. His season-best throw of 52-7.25 ranked No. 2 in the county.

    Lennox Lemon, Massillon, soph.

    • Lemon joined Hoover's Isaiah Barker and GlenOak's Skylan King as top finishers in the Division I long jump at the state meet. He finished fourth overall . His season-best jump was 22-3.5.

    Diontae Lester, Marlington, sr.

    • Lester reached the Division II state meet in the discus and shot put. The second-year thrower finished 12th in the discus and 16th in the shot put. He ranked third in the county in both events with top throws of 157-3 in the discus and 50-1.75 in the shot put.

    Sean McNulty, Jackson, jr.

    Connor Reed, Perry, sr.

    • Reed won a Division I regional title and finished 11th in the 1,600 at the state meet. He also was a regional qualifier in the 3,200. Reed’s season-best 3,200 time of 9:17.43 ranked third in the county. His season-best 1,600 time of 4:15.70 ranked fourth.

    Connor Satterfield, Northwest, sr.

    • Satterfield earned his second career Division II regional berth in the discus. He also led all county shot putters with a top throw of 52-9.5.

    Liston Seibert, Perry, soph.

    • Seibert won his first county pole vault title and became a first-time Division I regional qualifier. His season-best vault of 13-6 ranked No. 2 in the county.

    Joey Smart, Hoover, soph.

    • Smart has emerged as Hoover's best pole vaulter since former state champion Matt Peare in the mid-2010s. He qualified for the state meet and finished ninth. Smart's season-best jump of 13-8 ranked No. 1 among county vaulters.

    Haiden Williams, Louisville, fr.

    • Williams saw his first high school season end at the state meet. He finished third in the seated 100. Williams had season-best times of 24.65 in the 100 and 3:05.86 in the seated 400.

    Jayden Wilson, Perry, soph.

    • Wilson won a county title and was a Division I regional qualifier in the 400. His season-best time of 49.00 ranked No. 1 in the county.
