Carnations and books go hand in hand during August in Alliance.
Held in conjunction with the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival, the annual Friends of Rodman Public Library Used Book Sale will run Aug. 3-7 at Alliance Commons.
Alliance Commons is at 405 S. Linden Ave., a short walk from Rodman Public Library, where parking will be available. Attendees should enter from the Linden Avenue side of the building. Directional signs will be placed throughout the area to help guide shoppers.
In addition to the usual books and other items, the sale also will include baskets that will be raffled off, along with two quilts and a lottery board. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
New to the sale this year are Christmas gift tags for $1 per pack to go along with Christmas postcards, which come in a pack of 20 for $2. A 20-pack of cards with envelopes will also be available for $3.
As for the sale, Friends of Rodman Public Library says more than 10,000 items are available, including books, paperbacks, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, magazines and some puzzles and board games. More than 75% of the items have been donated, and 80% of the items are nonfiction in many popular categories, including history, biography, science, cooking, crafts, travel, religion, art, photography and business.
A large selection of children’s books also will be available, along with collectible books. Check rodmanlibrary.com/collectibles for a list of the items.
