Llama Yoga: Get Your “Zen” on Alongside These Furry, Rescued Friends

    2022-03-09

Yoga is a lot more mainstream than it used to be. People no longer look at you sideways when you tell them you’re taking yoga classes or practicing on your own at home.

Perhaps this is because over time, yoga’s been proven to have numerous benefits for both our physical and mental health. Anyone who engages in even a few minutes of yoga or meditation a day knows the calming effects it can have on their mind and body.

In general, taking a little bit of time out of our busy day to sit in practice leaves us feeling happier, more relaxed, and more grounded. We’re able to focus more when it comes to our work, handle the stresses of our daily lives better, and bring more patience and understanding to our most important relationships, as well as ourselves.

Sometimes, though, something we do regularly can begin to feel monotonous and boring, even if each moment is brand new, as meditation teaches us.

If you’re looking for a way to spice up your yoga practice, or you just want to get out of the house for once and connect with others, why not try Llama Yoga?

It might be just the inspiration you’re looking for!

    What is Llama Yoga?

You’re probably wondering what, exactly, Llama Yoga is.

Well, it’s just like it sounds: you do a yoga session alongside real, live llamas!

This is a yoga class unlike any other, and it’s one you’ll always remember, to say the least. You’ve probably never even considered doing your yoga poses next to a llama, but this is your chance!

This unique experience is offered by Atlanta Alpaca Treehouse, “one of the most wish-listed Airbnbs in the world,” according to its description. Situated on a 3.5-acre working farm in east Atlanta, this magical property contains several unique structures including a treehouse, cottages, and a beautiful barn built from reclaimed materials, which is where the yoga sessions are held.

    As their website says,

Llama Yoga classes are highly popular and held by our fabulous, zen expert yoga instructors in the light-filled reclaimed Bamboo Barn.

The llamas are free to wander in and out of the barn during classes, and some even lay down in between people's mats! Your new yoga friends are all rescues, and if you’re interested in hearing their stories and learning about their journey to this city farm, the owners would be happy to share it with you.

This may be the most unconventional yoga class of all, but that’s what people love about it! Doing something out of the ordinary is what keeps us alive and engaged.

So, why not treat yourself to a different kind of yoga experience? Even if it's not your most focused session, it's sure to bring a smile to your face and get your creativity flowing.

As the event description says, you can "soak in the magic and mystery of the place as you unwind both your body and soul."

What's not to love about that?
