Olean Oilers Fall 13-3 to Hornell Steamers
HORNELL, NY — For the fourth time this season, the Oilers found themselves on the wrong side of the 10-run mercy rule. The game was stopped in the eighth inning when the Steamers took a 13-3 lead. The Oilers gave up four runs to the Steamers in the first inning, which proved to be too much for them to overcome on Friday night. Beneway started five games this season and played in a total of nine. Friday's game was his first loss. The Oilers remain a half-game ahead of Dansville in the western division of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. Both teams will be in action on Saturday for their last representative games of the regular season. The Oilers travel to Houghton on Saturday to face the Genesee Rapids. Eighteen Mile Creek proposed clean up plan, community comments welcome
NEW YORK — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed a new cleanup plan on Friday for a portion of the Eighteen Mile Creek Superfund site in Niagara County. The EPA is asking the public to comment on the plan starting Friday, July 19 until August 19. EPA will host a public meeting at Newfane Townhall located at 2737 Main Street, Newfane, on August 1 at 6 p.m.
