In Alpine, New Jersey — an affluent New York City suburb — a gated four-story property has entered the ranks of the Garden State’s most expensive properties after selling for $16.7 million.

The abode, which initially sought slightly under $20 million when it listed in March, closed this month for less — but for more than any other home has gotten in New Jersey so far this year, Mansion Global first reported.

Although the state’s leader for 2024, the property’s sale hardly threatened the crown-holder for New Jersey’s all-time priciest pad: an almost 27,000-square-foot residence that netted $28.46 million in 2006.

Built in 2004 by a New Jersey architect and purchased by its recent sellers for $13.37 million in 2013, the freshly offloaded manor has eight bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, three half-bathrooms and an impressive array of amenities spread over just under 22,800 square feet of living space.

On the lower level of the 25-room main house alone, floor plans show a two-lane bowling alley with a concession area, a sumptuous wine-cellar, a recreation room, a home theater with an entry lounge area and a billiards room.

Set on 4 gated, manicured acres in the posh Rio Vista neighborhood, the estate also has an elevator, a new kitchen and 12-foot ceilings throughout.

“A complete resort just six miles from New York City,” boasts the listing, which was held by Rosemarie Campi of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty. The buyer was represented by Richard Orlando and Jason Pierce, also of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty.

Although the mansion is leading New Jersey’s home sales for the year, competition lurks just down the street in Rio Vista, where a new construction property is currently seeking $22.49 million.
