Tenn. firefighter crashes truck towing boat into building after suffering medical episode
DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — A firefighter crashed a Dandridge Fire Department command truck into a building downtown after suffering a medical episode behind the wheel, WVLT reports. The firefighter was picking up the boat for routine maintenance on July 31 when he lost consciousness behind the wheel, Fire Chief Andrew Riley said. The truck hit two parked cars during the crash, which Riley said helped save the building from seeing major damage.

Charges dropped against suspect in deadly hit-and-run of TSU football player
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Charges have been dropped against the man wanted in connection to the deadly hit-and-run of Tennessee State University football player, Chazan Page. A Davidson County judge said Thursday morning that the state of Tennessee decided to drop the charges against Arsenio Miller, 33, due to lack of evidence.

Nashville and Middle Tennessee Under Heat Advisory, Cities Open Cooling Centers Amid Rising Temperatures
The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a heat advisory, effective until 7 PM CDT this evening, as Middle Tennessee braces for another day of scorching temperatures. According to National Weather Service, "Very little relief through remainder of morning hours with heat index values up to 109 expected during afternoon hours today." All areas of Middle Tennessee, except for the Cumberland Plateau Region, are expected to feel the brunt of this heatwave.

DUI: Michael Sampson jailed after 5 car crash, refuses to test his blood because it’s “dirty”
39-year-old Michael Sampson was caught driving under the influence after a car accident near Taco Johns on Fort Campbell Boulevard on July 20th. Officers arrived at the scene and observed at least five vehicles involved in the crash. They spoke with Sampson, the driver of one of the vehicles, and noticed the smell of alcohol on his person. Officers then noticed Sampson had slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet.

A Jackson County man accused of shooting a family member, stealing a car, and driving to Tennessee back in April is now back in Alabama. The sheriff's office confirms they picked up Jonathan Powell from Lawrence County, Tennessee, where he was being held, Monday. He was then booked into the Jackson County Jail in Alabama.

Tennessee Man Arrested in Kentucky After Interstate Chase Involving Stolen Vehicle from Nashville
A multi-state car chase ended with the arrest of a Tennessee man after he led officers on a pursuit starting in Nashville and concluding in Kentucky. Dustin Duley, the 27-year-old suspect from Springfield, Tennessee, now faces numerous charges stemming from the incident, including first-degree fleeing/evading, receiving stolen property over $10,000 (auto), and being a fugitive from another state with active Tennessee warrants, as reported by WSMV.
