Lynchburg native Bill Dance named Sports Hall of Fame Tennessean of the Year
NASHVILLE — Our little town often gets put on the map thanks to our largest local export, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, but on July 20 at the Omni Nashville Hotel in Music City, the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame honored another local product, Bill Dance as their Tennessean of the Year at their annual award banquet.

NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville Repertory Theatre announced recently that two stars from Broadway and London’s West End will be leading its production of Sunday in the Park with George, which will be presented April 4 – 13, 2025, at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center as the final production of the theatre’s 40th anniversary season.
DUI: Michael Sampson jailed after 5 car crash, refuses to test his blood because it’s “dirty”
39-year-old Michael Sampson was caught driving under the influence after a car accident near Taco Johns on Fort Campbell Boulevard on July 20th. Officers arrived at the scene and observed at least five vehicles involved in the crash. They spoke with Sampson, the driver of one of the vehicles, and noticed the smell of alcohol on his person. Officers then noticed Sampson had slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet.

A Jackson County man accused of shooting a family member, stealing a car, and driving to Tennessee back in April is now back in Alabama. The sheriff's office confirms they picked up Jonathan Powell from Lawrence County, Tennessee, where he was being held, Monday. He was then booked into the Jackson County Jail in Alabama.

A multi-state car chase ended with the arrest of a Tennessee man after he led officers on a pursuit starting in Nashville and concluding in Kentucky. Dustin Duley, the 27-year-old suspect from Springfield, Tennessee, now faces numerous charges stemming from the incident, including first-degree fleeing/evading, receiving stolen property over $10,000 (auto), and being a fugitive from another state with active Tennessee warrants, as reported by WSMV.

According to officials, Edmonds was transferred on Wednesday, July 31, to community confinement overseen by the Federal Bureau of Prisons' Nashville Residential Reentry Management Office. This means Edmond is in either home confinement or a Residential Reentry Center or a halfway house.

WEST TENNESSEE HEALTHCARE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN HENRY COUNTY. Jackson, Tennessee (July 30, 2024) – On Tuesday evening, July 30, 2024, the Board of Trustees of West Tennessee Healthcare (WTH) approved a resolution to pursue an innovative integration model with Henry County Medical Center (HCMC) in Paris, Tennessee. The model includes the transfer of operations, a capital lease of HCMC’s real estate, and a commitment to provide certain healthcare services in Henry County. Once the transaction is finalized, the health system will begin operating as West Tennessee Healthcare Henry County (WTHHC).
