Anthony Alfredo returning to Cup racing at Talladega
Anthony Alfredo has added another Cup Series start to his season schedule as he has reunited with Beard Motorsports. Alfredo, who competes full-time in Xfinity, will drive for Beard at Talladega Superspeedway in October. He will return to the No. 62 Chevrolet Camaro while working with a new primary sponsor. Fortify Building Solutions will make its first foray into NASCAR for the superspeedway race.
Carson Hocevar heats up NASCAR Rookie of the Year battle
Carson Hocevar has made the Rookie of the Year battle more competitive following a top-10 finish at World Wide Technology Raceway. Hocevar was one of three drivers in the Cup Series lineup Sunday competing to win Rookie of the Year. Josh Berry and Zane Smith were the other two. Berry was 19th in points, Hocevar was 24th in points, and Smith was 35th in points after the first 14 races of the season.

Shane van Gisbergen has locked up a spot in the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs after winning at Portland International Raceway. Van Gisbergen won for the first time in the Xfinity Series after taking the lead from Justin Allgaier with four laps remaining in the race. Allgaier crossed the line second. WWT Raceway Truck Results: Corey Heim wins
Corey Heim has won for the second time at World Wide Technology Raceway after dominating the final stage of Saturday afternoon's Truck Series race. Ty Majeski was the favorite during the first two stages after starting from the pole, but it was Heim who took the lead when it mattered. The Tricon Garage driver led a race-high 65 laps and scored his fourth win of the Truck Series season.
Xfinity Portland starting lineup: Sam Mayer wins the pole
Sam Mayer will lead the Xfinity Series field to the green flag Saturday afternoon at Portland International Raceway (4:30 p.m. ET on FS1). Mayer won the pole with a lap of 96.654 mph. Michael McDowell will lead the Cup Series field to the green flag Sunday afternoon at World Wide Technology Raceway. McDowell qualified on the pole for the third time this season.
