AltaMed raises $1 million at their annual celebration and fundraising event
The AltaMed Health Service Corporation (AltaMed) fundraiser event called East LA Meets Napa on Friday reached the $1 million mark. “This is the most we have ever raised in an East LA Meets Napa event,” Sharlene Risdon-Jackson, vice president of foundation development at AltaMed Health Services, told CALÓ News. “All of those revenue resources are going to go back to AltaMed Health Services, allowing us to treat more patients, expand our reach and care for our community better,” she said.

LA gang leader fatally stabbed in prison
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. - A gang leader from Panorama City was fatally stabbed in prison, the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said Monday. On Sunday, July 21, at approximately 8:05 p.m., officers at Centinela State Prison witnessed three inmates attacking Ezequiel Romo in a dayroom. Officers quickly jumped in, issuing verbal orders to stop, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) said in a statement. Officers had to use four applications of pepper spray to stop the inmates from attacking Romo.
Schedule, Location for Rental Housing Board Could Change
The Pasadena Rental Housing Board will consider a resolution on Wednesday changing its regular meeting schedule and location. A proposed resolution for the July 24 meeting showed the Board plans to consider establishing new dates, times, and location for its regular sessions. If approved, the PRHB will set meetings for the first and third Thursdays of each month at 6 p.m. The new schedule would take effect on Aug. 15.
