Guitarist Michael Schenker has paid tribute to his time in the ’70s hard-rock band UFO by releasing a guest-stacked LP titled My Years With UFO. Among the featured players are Dee Snider, Slash , Joe Lynn Turner, Jeff Scott Soto, Stephen Pearcy, and Axl Rose, who sings on the pair’s new version of “Love To Love.” Melissa Reese had produced Axl Rose’s vocals, and Rose also had his ex-Guns N’ Roses bandmate, drummer Brain Mantia, work on production.

Melissa Reese honored to produce Axl Rose vocals

She recently penned a heartfelt note on Instagram . She wrote:

“I was so honored that Axl asked me and trusted me to produce his vocals, play the string arrangements, and do the orchestration for his contribution to this record. Of course this was all possible because of the dream team – my composing/producing partner Brain Mantia and the insane and brilliant mixing skills of @duganchris. Thank you to Ax, @betalebeis @santista17 @michaelschenkerrocks @kidroommusic and everyone who was involved in making this amazing thing happen . Released today on music streaming platforms .”

The track is taken from the legendary guitarist’s just-released album “My Years With UFO”, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of his years with UFO, spanning from 1972 to 1978. The “German Wunderkind” was asked to join UFO at just 17 years old. Touring the globe as a teenager, Schenker became a driving force behind some of UFO’s most loved tracks, such as “Doctor Doctor”, “Rock Bottom” and “Only You Can Rock Me”.

“Love To Love” first came out in 1977 on UFO’s sixth record, Lights Out. Meanwhile, My Years With UFO is the first of three albums Schenker plans to release under a new record deal with earMUSIC; look for two more LPs come 2025 and 2026.

Michael Schenker’s new version of the UFO classic “Love To Love” featuring a guest appearance by GUNS N’ ROSES singer Axl Rose can be streamed below.

In this celebratory album, Michael Schenker presents 11 of UFO’s greatest hits from this magical era with an impressive lineup of guest stars. Joining Schenker on this journey are Derek Sherinian on keyboards, Brian Tichy on drums, and Barry Sparks on bass.
