Jane’s Addiction had reunited with returning bassist Eric Avery for “Imminent Redemption,” their first song in years released by the classic Jane’s Addiction lineup in 34 years.

Jane’s Addiction to drop Imminent Redemption for public

‘Imminent Redemption’ single is set to get a public release on RSD Black Friday with different pressing and minor artwork. For RSD Black Friday, a two-track 12” on black vinyl will be dropped. The inner sleeve has art and lyrics and a limited number of randomly distributed copies are autographed by one or more band members. 2500 copies will be released on Novemeber 11th.

Avery’s bass work would be the first thing you hear on “Imminent Redemption,” as the song rides a killer groove throughout. “Let’s make some good trouble,” Perry Farrell proclaims at the top of the song, with the track living up to that declaration. For fans of the original lineup, the new song 34 years later very much has that feel of classic Jane’s.

“It is different this time,” says the band. “To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction. ‘Imminent Redemption’ is only the beginning.”

The band’s 23-city tour kicked off on August 9th in Las Vegas and was scheduled to continue through their September 29 headlining St. Louis’ Evolution Festival. However, things went south for the band.

An altercation between Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro took place on September 13th in Boston. The incident saw Farrell appearing to purposely tackle Navarro on stage, leading to a heated confrontation that left both the audience and band members shocked. Footage captured by fans shows that Farrell, in the middle of his meltdown, attempted to use his microphone as a weapon against his bandmates.

The tension between Farrell and Navarro reportedly escalated after Farrell got in Navarro’s face and began hurling insults at him. A confused Navarro could be seen asking what was going on, but before anyone could intervene, Farrell lunged at him. The situation escalated as Farrell started throwing punches, though it’s unclear if any landed on Navarro. Perry Farrell has also apologized to Dave Navarro after their battle onstage. The band went on to call off their remaining dates of the tour and announced that the band was going on a hiatus.
