There has been much discussion over the years about the possibility of Bon Scott having written lyrics for songs that ended up on AC/DC’s successful album, “Back in Black,” which was released shortly after Scott’s death. In particular, there has been speculation about the lyrics to the song “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

Jesse Fink opens up on Bon Scott

During an interview with Booked on Rock , the author of the book “Bon: The Last Highway,” Jesse Fink, narrated a story that might offer some proof that Scott had a hand in writing at least some of the lyrics to the aforementioned tune. And it can be linked to an earlier song by the band.

“There’s a very interesting story in there about the musician who posted on acdcfans.net, which is a sort of well-known AC/DC fans forum, where I’m sort of public enemy #1, so I don’t visit it very often!”, Fink explained.

“But anyway, this guy wrote this story where he said that he was a young musician, he was recording an album with Mark Dearnley, who had been the engineer on ‘Highway to Hell.'”

“So, he was doing an album with his band in the early 80s with Mark Dearnley, and they they’d had a recording session and they were sort of kicking back one night, and the guy in this band turned to Mark Dearnley, and said, ‘I’ve always wondered about ‘You Shook Me All Night Long.’ And Mark Dearnley turned to him apparently and said, ‘Oh, well, you know that it sort of started out in the song ‘Love Hungry Man,’ that Bon had tried the lyrics in ‘Love Hungry Man,’ and it hadn’t quite worked out, so it was held over for ‘Back in Black.'”

Fink also offered a possible connection between the lyrics of the two songs: “The interesting thing is the lyric ‘made a meal out of me,’ the line appears in both songs, or a variation of it.”

What Fink is referring to is the lyric “All I wanna do is make a meal outta you” from “Love Hungry Man” and “Made a meal outta me and come back for more” from “You Shook Me All Night Long.
