Ahead of Linkin Park’s new album, From Zero, Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong joined in on From Zero: A Conversation with Mike Shinoda and Em…

During the conversation, Mike said: “Joe, Dave, Brad and I – there’s been all kinds of moments when the reality of what’s happening right now hits us.[..] ‘Oh, this is so f***ing weird! But it’s great!’ It’s just uncomfortable because it’s new. We gonna have to get used to it, right?”

    New Linkin Park lineup

Linkin Park recently returned from hiatus after the tragic loss of their iconic frontman, Chester Bennington, in 2017. They recently unveiled a new single titled “The Emptiness Machine” from their upcoming album From Zero .

This marks the band’s first release of new music in several years. The band performed in a live stream event. However, fans quickly noticed the absence of two core members , guitarist Brad Delson and drummer Rob Bourdon during the performance. Rob Bourdon was replaced by Colin Brittain while Guitarist Alex Feder stepped in to fill Brad Delson’s role on stage.

Former Dead Sara frontwoman Emily Armstrong was also introduced as the new vocalist replacing Chester Bennington. However, the addition of Emily Armstrong to the band drew mixed reactions from the fans and Mike Shinoda has also addressed the same. Meanwhile, she has received support from Chester’s widow, Talinda Bennington. She seemingly approved of the band’s choice to replace Chester.

In another interview, Shinoda had stated that this is a new era of Linkin Park to him and that Armstrong isn’t trying to be a clone of Chester Bennington.

“The album comes out the second week of November. And I hope that when people hear it, they really understand this is not meant to be a redo or a rewrite of Linkin Park. This is intended to be the new chapter of Linkin Park. It’s, like, the old chapter was a great chapter and we love that chapter. And that ran its course. And now we were faced with the challenge of, ‘Okay, if you start from scratch with another voice, what do you do?’ And Emily’s voice, like when she sings the thing, man, it’s like the passion… She’s a hundred percent her. That’s the best part, is she’s not trying to be Chester, she’s not trying to be anybody else. She’s her, and that’s why it works.”
