CARBONDALE (SIU NEWS) — The 2023-2024 academic year was a record-breaker for the Saluki Food Pantry at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, so a food drive is underway to ensure the pantry can continue to provide assistance to students in times of need, thus assuring they can focus on meeting their educational goals.
SIU professor receives grant to tackle plastic pollution
CARBONDALE, Ill. — An associate professor at Southern Illinois University is looking to help provide a solution to plastic waste and pollution. Lahiru Jayakody, a professor in the School of Biological Sciences and Fermentation Science Institute, recently received a grant from the National Science Foundation worth up to $624,500 that will fund equipment, supplies, and a handful of student researchers on the project.
