Altoona man shot to death; two detained as 'persons of interest'

Authorities are investigating a shooting early Thursday in Altoona that left one man dead and two people detained as “persons of interest,” according to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded about 1 a.m. to a report of someone shot at a residence in 2000 block of Self Street, according to a news release.

They found Tyler Golden, 35, a resident of the address, dead at the scene.

A man and a woman were detained and transported to the investigation division of the sheriff's office. Charges are expected, according to the release.

The Attalla Police Department, the Altoona Fire Department, A-Med Ambulance Service and Jacksonville State University's Center for Applied Forensics assisted in the case.
