July donation drive to benefit homeless veterans, deployed troops

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A non-profit organization has launched its 4th annual Summer Donation Drive, which benefits local homeless veterans and deployed troops.

The donation drive runs through July, and Military Families Ministry, USA, Inc. is working to collect to help those in need. Care packages with snacks and personal care items will be deployed to troops.

Here’s what can be donated:

• Non-perishable microwavable meals
• Protein-rich food bars, crackers
• Snacks: fruit snacks, nuts, cookies
• Beef Jerky & Slim Jims, shelf-stable meat/cheese
• Individual drink mixes for water bottles
• Waterbottles, Gatorade, Body Armor
• Hard candy, bubble gum, Twizzlers, lollipops
• Body wash, soap, hand & body wipes
• Deodorant, razors, shaving cream
• Toothbrushes & toothpaste
• Lip balm, lotion, sunscreen
• Combs/brushes, nail clippers, tissues
• Feminine hygiene products
• First aid kits, solar-powered portable power bank
• Black crew socks, ponchos, lightweight blankets

Altoona

• The DeGol Organization
• ARC Federal Credit Union – both locations, M&T Bank – FSC 31 W. Plank Road

Tyrone

• Mac’s Meat Market
• Kelly Wike’s State Farm Office
