Altoona K9 officer tracks down robbery suspect

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Altoona K9 officer is being celebrated after he successfully tracked down a suspect for police.

The Altoona Police Department is thanking K9 Pongo who helped to track down a suspect who was wanted for a robbery and domestic incident. Police said that on Tuesday, June 25 they responded to Duff Drive for the incident.

Police said that the suspect got into a fight with his girlfriend and then allegedly robbed her before running away. Officers added that he then fled into the woods.

K9 Pongo was then called to the scene to help officers find the suspect. APD said that Pongo was able to acquire the suspects’ scent and track him down.
