    Over 200 children attend college at Penn State Altoona

    ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Children as young as 7 years old are going to college at Penn State Altoona. It’s for the annual Kids’ College Camp.

    The camp is held every year on the Altoona Campus, and for one week it teaches children about art, science, and other STEM-related topics.

    Penn State Summer Discovery program returns, ‘life-changing’

    Each week there is a different theme at camp and right now, the kids are exploring different parts of the world and learning about the history of American Girl dolls.

    “I hope that they realize that learning can be fun. Really, that’s what we want them to know, that they walk out the door knowing that camp is fun because it is fun,” Debbie Flaig, Director of Kids’ College said.

    Children in grades 2 through 9 are eligible for Kids’ College. There’s also a camp for children with autism spectrum disorders which cost $145. Camp for students in grades 2-9 are $155.

    There are still spots available for camp that starts on July 22 and July 29.

    Scholarships are also available for families who need financial assistance .
