ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Fort Roberdeau will be hosting a Revolutionary War Days encampment and reenactment.

The activities will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 11. The grounds will open to the public at 10 a.m. on both days. Revolutionary War Days at Fort Roberdeau recreates the tense situation that existed on the Pennsylvania frontier in the spring of 1778.

Frontier settlers, militia and rangers will garrison the fort and patrol the surrounding woods, watchful for loyalists and Native American raiders. Visitors to the event will experience life on the frontier during these tumultuous times.

    Programs include:

    • Musket and artillery firing demonstrations
    • A raid on a settler’s cabin
    • A woods battle
    • Two assaults on the fort
    • Displays and demonstrations that interpret the lives of women and children who took refuge at the fort
