A few rain showers today before weather clears and temperatures rise
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Good morning NCWV! We are almost done with another week and we still are seeing some rain showers and possible storms move through our area as we continue throughout today, especially towards the early afternoon hours. Our high temperatures are still slightly below average, only getting to the low to mid 80s in the lowlands and the low to mid 70s in the higher elevations. These rain showers are expected to not supply too much rainfall to the area, only about a half an inch, but every drop is needed with the current drought conditions.
Large Bear Spotted in Heavily Populated Residential Areas of City, Including Near Johnson Avenue Schools
Several Bridgeport residents have reported spotting a large black bear in residential areas across the city, with the earliest reports coming in at just before noon today. The photo below shows the bear running across Johnson Avenue in the turn just above Johnson Elementary School. Other reports have the bear as being seen in an area just across Johnson Avenue in another significant residential area.
Mon County Child Advocacy Center to host Golf Tournament
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - The Monongalia Child Advocacy Center has been a bright light in Mon county for many years. Providing crucial services for children and families affected by abuse. A consistent way the organization has gained the communities awareness on abuse in Mon county has been through their fundraisers; and this weekend their hosting a golf tournament at the Mountaineer Golf Course. Leading event officials like, Taylor Shultz, hoping people not only tee off, but also spread the word.

Mountaineer Food Bank to hold annual Tee to Table golf tournament fundraiser
ROANOKE, W.Va (WDTV) - Stonewall Resort is hosting the 5th annual Tee to Table Golf Tournament this week to support a local food bank. The tournament is held to benefit the Mountaineer Food Bank in their mission of fighting hunger and providing food to West Virginians in need. The food bank was created in 1981 and placed in Gassaway in Braxton County due to its central location. Over the years, the food bank has become the largest emergency food provider in the state distributing 23 million pounds annually.
