Unveiling of Merle Haggard statue in Muskogee announced
It's finally known when a statue honoring country music legend and "Okie from Muskogee" star Merle Haggard will be unveiled. In early 2023, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and the Merle Haggard Statue Committee announced their plans to enshrine the legendary musician with a bronze statue. It's now known that the Haggard statue will be unveiled on Oct. 10, 2024, and will stand outside the Muskogee Civic Center, which is where he recorded the famous song and live album.
Woman detained in North Miami stabbing
NORTH MIAMI, Okla. — A woman is detained in a northeast Oklahoma stabbing, officials with Quapaw Nation Marshal Service say. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to call for a stabbing in North Miami at 712 Pine St. just before 9 a.m. Thursday and found a man with a stab wound to the chest. NorSun Selects Tulsa Airport For Factory, Creating 320 Jobs
Norwegian solar energy company, NorSun, has selected Tulsa, Oklahoma International Airport for its first U.S.-based factory location, an initial planned investment of $620 million in a new 5 GW silicon ingot and solar wafer manufacturing facility. The expansion, which was facilitated by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust, will create 320 new direct jobs and provide critically needed domestic production of ingot and wafer capacity to meet the increasing demand from U.S. solar cell and panel manufacturers, supporting the growth of the renewable energy sector.
