Illinois State Horseshoe Tournament Kicks Off in Danville
The Danville Horseshoe Club is set to host the 2024 Illinois State Horseshoe Tournament at Douglas Park this weekend. Kicking off Friday at 6 p.m. with doubles events, the tournament will feature singles competitions starting Saturday at 8 a.m. A total of 101 pitchers will compete across 15 classes, including defending champions in various categories. Junior Devan Swisher tied for third individually (47) and sophomore Garrett Loschen was fifth (48) on Wednesday (Aug. 28), for the St. Joseph-Ogden golf team, which placed second in a three-school meet at Danville Country Club. Salt Fork (194) won team honors, followed by SJ-O (202) and Schlarman Academy (243).

The Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Blue Devils will kick their season off against the Judah Christian Tribe on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Judah Christian is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Iroquois West. Judah Christian narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Iroquois West 4-3. It was an even better day for Braydon Mora as he scored three goals for his team.
