    Author Q&A

What inspired you to write your first book?

The amount of misinformation on the topic online, Cheap and free Houses in Japan” made me want to clarify what actually lays behind and where the real opportunities lays, from a first person perspective after buying and renovating these houses for the past 5 years living in Tokyo.

How did you come up with the title?

It is catchy and people remember it, it is partly true and it debunks and tells truth and shed light on the Japanese problem with abandoned houses, called ‘Akiya Monday” in Japanese.

    What are your current projects?

Right now working on a really cool house in Shinjuku, turning this gem into another Japandi oasis! Been upping the video production in longer YouTube videos and it has been fun to learn cinematography. We are done with this house this summer, and maybe a sequel of the book could be in the writing. Renovation, writing and Media is more than a full time job, and I love it!

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

To choose what to include. This could have been a 1000 page plus book, but in the end we dissected the book and only included the very best stories, facts and cultural differences, for your pleasure.

We also had about 100 cover options, really stressful designing and picking a cover on a short deadline, but it turned out great in the end!

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Have fun, work hard and follow your heart.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

    Come to Japan!

What book/s are you reading at present?

History of Traditional Japanese color by Kazuo Jo, color combinations are super interesting and inspiring and I am implementing it in my latest design works!

How can readers discover more about you and you work?

    Follow me on social media!

What is your favorite time to write, and why?

At night, my dogs fall asleep and in one blink its already 5am.
