LUBBOCK — On Wednesday, United Supermarkets officially launched its new brand, SMōK’D Pit Barbecue, after its partnership with a local barbecue restaurant came to an end.

"Starting with Certified Angus Beef and oak wood, the team at SMōK’D will deliver quality across various menu options," a company news release states.

The featured barbecue brand will be available at the United Supermarkets located on 114th Street and Slide Road in Lubbock, as well as the United Family’s newest Market Street locations in Amarillo and in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

United said the menu will include brisket, burnt ends, turkey, pulled pork, sausage, ribs, and chicken, as well as several sides and desserts. These items will be available via different combo meals, sandwiches, and by the half pound, and sides will be available by the pint and quart.

“Barbecue is engrained in the culture of West Texas,” said Mark Yowell, regional vice president for The United Family in the release. “We believe that our new brand SMōK’D will live up to the traditions of real Texas BBQ. From brisket to ribs, we will produce a quality product for a reasonable price. We can’t wait for guests to try the SMōK’D experience.”

United had announced in April its partnership with Evie Mae's would end the following month and that starting May 22, it would continue to offer barbecue under a new name at the three locations.
