AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – A woman who was recently arrested in Potter County after allegedly holding another woman hostage and drunk driving with a child passenger was indicted on a kidnapping charge for a previous incident in Randall County, according to court documents.

Court documents detailed that 28-year-old Maricela Perez was indicted in Randall County on a charge of “aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon,” after a previous June 20 incident in which she allegedly kidnapped one person while threatening him with a gun.

As previously reported on MyHighPlains.com, Perez was arrested on July 9 in Amarillo after she allegedly kidnapped another woman out of her home while brandishing a gun. After firing a shot inside the home, Perez allegedly drove the woman around with a small child in the backseat until later dropping the woman off at a local convenience store.

Amarillo Police Department officers later arrested Perez for allegedly driving while intoxicated with a child passenger in the car and unlawfully carrying a weapon. However, as of July 18, she had not yet been indicted on those charges.

The Randall County indictment against Perez restricted her use or possession of guns or drugs, as well as restricted her behavior toward and access to the person she allegedly kidnapped. Her recommended bond was set at $30,000.
