AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Kevin Van Voris is all about bringing the heat to the Yellow City.
“I wanna bring more and more and bigger events to Amarillo,” said Van Voris, owner of Contagion Athletics in Amarillo. “Just keep growing the community here.”
Van Voris has a passion for weight lifting, cars and good grubbing, and he’s packing all of those interests in the upcoming 4th Annual West Texas Classic.
“It’s a three day event. We’ve got a car show Friday night, it starts at 6 p.m, it’s free to attend. We’ve got the bodybuilding show on Saturday, West Texas Classic Bodybuilding Championships. Sunday, we’ve got our first ever food truck war,” he explained.
Van Voris said that more than 100 athletes will pump some iron in the power lifting contests, and more than 40 bodybuilders will pose on stage showing the results of their hard work and sacrifice.
Anyone who wants to register for Friday’s car show can just show up, literally, according to Van Voris. But he encourages you to get there a little early.
“Please get here at (4 p.m.) four o’clock because the line, I promise you, is gonna be down the street. We have people coming all the way from Dallas. It’s probably gonna be the biggest car show Amarillo’s ever had,” he told MyHighPlains.com.
CA’s first ever Food Truck War will bring a different level of competition to the fold and will feature 15 trucks fighting for the grand prize.
“We’re giving away $3,500.00. It’s only $15.00 to get in. You get to go to every food truck, you get to try a featured food item at each food truck, and then you take your little bingo card, or you turn it in, you tell one’s your favorite,” he expressed.
Bringing plenty of iron, fast rides and good eatin’ to the 806.
