Unseasonably cool and additional chances of rain

Hello everyone!

Another day of slightly below average temperatures are occurring across the area. Highs this afternoon will be primarily in the 80’s. Amarillo should top out near 89. Tomorrow looks to warm back into the low to mid 90’s, while Saturday and Sunday could hold steady in the 80’s.

Of course, the reason that it is slightly cooler is due to increased cloud cover, and rain chances. Our best prospects for precipitation today and tonight will be across our central and western counties, as thunderstorms roll this way from the high country of New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday will continue with scattered showers and thunderstorms daily. Regarding severe weather, as of this writing, pockets of small hail, high winds, and heavy downpours will be the main concerns with any storm development. As always, stay Weather Aware if you are in a thunderstorm environment. Lightning is always a concern!
