AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine announced it will host its RaiderVet Camp on July 26-27, during which area children and teens will be able to learn about veterinary medicine.

As noted by organizers, this will be the second year that the RaiderVet Camp has been offered, and will include stations at camp covering different topics such as communications, anatomy, radiology, pathology and others. Attendees will also be able to participate in hands-on learning activities.

Third-year Veterinary Student Kaitlyn Crowl said the goal behind the camp is community outreach and youth education.

“For young students that are passionate and hungry to learn more about veterinarian medicine, it’s great for them to get involved in these camps and kind of truly see what it is that us vet students get to do in a day,” said Crowl, “This early education and involvement with the veterinary medicine field is very important.”

Officials noted that there will be two days of the RaiderVet Camp, with day one for children aged nine to 15 and the second day for ages 11 to 18.
