AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Dairy Queen are set to partner on July 25 for the 40th annual “Miracle Treat Day,” during which the restaurant chain will donate $1 or more to local children’s hospitals for every Blizzard Treat sold.

The annual fundraiser began in 1984, according to Dairy Queen, with a few DQ operators raising $30,000 during a telethon. Since then, the partnership has raised more than $180 million for children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada.

As noted by DQ representatives, the donations gathered on Miracle Treat Day are used to “provide critical funding for life-saving treatments and essential services for kids in need. Your support helps ensure that every child receives the care they deserve.”

As mentioned in previous reports on MyHighPlains.com, the Children’s Miracle Network of Amarillo serves the Texas Panhandle area as well as counties across the High Plains in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Kansas. The organization noted that it provides families with assistance to help with medical bills, prescription costs, medical equipment needs and more. Further, the organization offers grants to rural hospitals and other area healthcare providers for resources and equipment for pediatric care.

“The 170 Children’s Miracle Network Affiliates help kids of every age and background overcome every imaginable disease and injury – from asthma and broken bones to cancer, heart defects, pediatric AIDS, muscular dystrophy, and serious injuries,” described CMN Amarillo officials previously on social media, “Through its year-round efforts to help kids, Children’s Miracle Network has raised more than $4.3 billion to date, most of which is raised a dollar or two at a time by caring individuals across North America.”
