CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Potter County Sheriff’s Office said it invites the community to participate in the 16th annual Citizens Academy beginning Sept. 3.

According to officials, the office is inviting those to join in on an in-depth 12-week academy about the Potter County Sheriff’s Office and what they do. Officials noted that each week participants will be introduced to a new team member in the office as they explain what they do in that particular field, giving information about their divisions.

Officials also stated that participants will have the opportunity to ride along with a deputy, tour the jail, and, on Saturday, go to the range to practice shooting the guns that the Sheriff’s office has.

Each week a light snack and drink will be provided, according to officials, and those interested can contact Crime Prevention Sergeant Krishauna McKinney today at 806-379-2964 or 806-282-3808, or by emailing at krishaunamckinney@co.potter.tx.us. to get signed up.
