An Amarillo resident died in a motorcycle crash on FM 687 about a mile from Sanford on Tuesday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced.

Gregory Gallegos, 34, of Amarillo, was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS said for an unknown reason, Gallegos lost control of his 2019 Harley Davison motorcycle, which went off the roadway, ejecting him as he was traveling southbound on the road in Hutchinson County at around 6:48 a.m.

Gallegos was not wearing a helmet, according to DPS.

According to DPS, the visibility on the road was clear, and the crash remains under investigation.
