Join Panhandle PBS for a celebratory open house Thursday

Panhandle PBS has celebrated its 35th anniversary over the past year with special programming and activities highlighting its service to the Texas Panhandle since 1988. The public is invited to attend a Panhandle PBS Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 2408 S. Jackson St., on the Amarillo College Washington Street Campus, to help celebrate and learn more about the station.

Activities will include station tours, local content updates, PBS highlight reels, green screen demonstrations, a chance to win prizes and even a visit from the Cat in the Hat. Cake and punch will also be served. The event is open to the public and “come and go.” Support for this event is provided by the Josephine Anderson Charitable Trust.

The station signed on the air on August 29, 1988. Today its “more than TV” approach includes national PBS and local Panhandle PBS content on three channels (KACV HD, PBS KIDS 24/7, and Create TV) as well as free community outreach events, film screenings, public issue forums, arts performances, children’s educational gatherings, and more.
