Seasonable August heat continues this weekend

We are starting off on a warm note with lows in the upper 60’s and low 70’s. As the day unfolds, a partly sunny sky is expected with light southeast winds of 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will respond, heating back into the 90’s this afternoon. Amarillo should top out close to 96. Tomorrow will follow suit with a range of temps from 92 to 100. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday could reach back to 100, if not a little bit hotter. Regarding rainfall, as of this writing, a slight chance for thunderstorms will be possible from tonight through the weekend. If a storm is near your location be aware of lightning, sudden downburst winds, pockets of small hail, and heavy downpours.

Lastly, remember to drink plenty of water to stay over hydrated, put on the sunscreen, and try to avoid being outside during the peak heating hours of the day.
