Taylor Swift cancels Vienna shows after 2 arrested in terror plot

Taylor Swift's upcoming Eras Tour concerts in Vienna have been canceled following the revelation of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium.

The local concert promoter, Barracuda Music, made the announcement on Wednesday, citing safety concerns. “We have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety,” the promoter stated. “All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.”

Swift was set to perform in Vienna on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Earlier in the day, Vienna Federal Ministry of the Interior officials confirmed that two individuals had been arrested on suspicion of plotting attacks at major events, including Swift's concerts.

Although initial plans included heightened security measures, the decision was ultimately made to cancel the performances. Swift’s remaining European tour dates now include five nights at Wembley Stadium in London from August 15-20. She will then return to North America in October before concluding the Eras Tour in December.

This incident marks the second violent event related to Swift in recent weeks. On July 29, a mass stabbing in Southport, U.K., resulted in the deaths of three children—ages 9, 7, and 6—during a Taylor Swift-themed class for children.

A 17-year-old male was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with the attack. Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy indicated that the suspect will be interviewed by detectives.

Swift expressed her profound shock and sadness on Instagram, saying, “The horror of yesterday's attack is washing over me continuously and I’m just completely in shock.”
