    Aberdeen Police arrest person for reckless endangerment

    Aberdeen police officers arrested an individual following a shooting at slightly after midnight on Tuesday in Aberdeen.

    Tuesday, shortly after midnight, Aberdeen police officers responded to a report of a gunshot in the backyard of a residence located on the 1700 block of Ninth Avenue SW, according to a release. Responding officers contained the area and began communications with a person who was upset. Other occupants of the home were able to leave.

    The Aberdeen Special Response Team responded, and negotiators communicated with the subject for several hours. Residents in the area were contacted and asked to evacuate or shelter in place while officers worked to resolve the incident, according to the release. Eventually, the person agreed to leave the house.

    The person was arrested and taken to the Brown County Jail. Charges include the reckless discharge of a firearm, according to the police. Officers served a search warrant on the home and a handgun was taken as evidence.

    The Aberdeen Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Agencies that responded to this incident included the Aberdeen Police Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
