    Cal Cam Fair offers four days of family fun

    O ne of the area’s longest running fairs is back for the 102nd year.

    The Cal Cam Fair will take place Thursday-Sunday at the West Cal Arena and Events Center, located at 401 Arena Road in Sulphur. Parking is free. Admission and ride bracelet prices vary by day. Kids ages 10 and younger admitted free.

    “The bull fight is always a hit,” said spokesperson Jody Barrrilleaux, “and this year we’re having something new, a mechanical bull for the kids to ride and a new entertainment event we like to call Cal Cam Caraoke, with a “C.”

    Thursday

    Gates open at 4 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. It’s $5 per person to get in. Rides begin at 5 p.m. The Junior and Miss pageants are scheduled for 7 p.m.

    Friday

    From 10 a.m.-noon it’s senior citizens only. All others get in at 4 p.m. for $10 per person. Rides start at 5 p.m. Entertainment is Paul Rogers-New Image at 5:30 p.m. and Cal Cam’s Got Talent at 7 p.m. Cal Cam Caraoke is at 8:30 p.m. The winner receives a $1,500 award. Gates close at 10 p.m.

    Saturday

    From 8-9 a.m. is livestock registration and weigh-in. At 9 a.m. it’s Brad Brinkley and Bingo for $5, followed at 9:30 a.m. by showmanship for sheep, goats and pigs.

    Gates open at 11 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Admission jumps to $15. On hand will be local high school choirs. The rabbit check-in is 1-2 p.m. and the show starts at 2 p.m.

    Paul Rogers-New Image entertains at 5 p.m.

    The bull fight is at 7 p.m. followed by Mutton Bustin at 8 p.m.

    Sunday

    Gates open at noon and close at 5 p.m. at $5 per person.

    Beef registration and check-in runs from 8-9 a.m. with the beef showmanship, market steer and breeding taking place at 10 a.m.
