Miranda Lambert will release her next album, Postcards from Texas next month. When talking about the forthcoming project in the past, she promised it would be “very country.” Furthermore, she stated that it would be obvious that they recorded the songs in Texas. Yesterday (July 31), Lambert shared an acoustic rendition of her latest single “Alimony” that backs up her previous statements about the album.

In the video, Lambert sits on a stool strumming her acoustic guitar while singing “Alimony.” However, she’s not alone for the session. A pedal steel guitar accompanies her as she performs. The rendition is, as she wrote in the post’s caption, “Honky tonk as hell.” Watch the stripped-down performance video below.

Miranda Lambert Gears Up for Her Next Album

Miranda Lambert released “Alimony” last Wednesday (July 24) when she announced the official release date of Postcards from Texas. She co-penned the song with Natalie Hemby and Shane McAnally on her farm. In a press release, she discussed how the trio came up with the song.

“I was showing Shane and Natalie the horses, and I asked if he had any other titles,” she recalled. “He said he had one and I was like ‘What is it? Because your last one was Looking Back on Luckenbach which I didn’t think could top. He said, ‘Well, if you’re gonna leave me in San Antone, remember the Alamo-neeee,’” she added.

Before long, they were in Lambert’s house with their guitars working out the rest of the song. “We used every Texas metaphor we could come up with on purpose,” she recalled.
