I’m a wild, wildflower just a-ready for the picking

Thirty-one years is a long time coming

Feet off the ground, but I’m a-still running

Wilson has many songs in which she compares herself to objects or animals–all of which have a free spirit. While her heart might be like a truck, her essence is that of a wild horse. She longs to be in an open pasture with her head in the clouds.

Nevertheless, she finds a way to be grounded long enough to find her way home. If you wanna love me, you don’t need a rope / You just need to know / Good horses come home, the chorus reads.

Searching for a song, so I keep on strumming

Come a long way since I left Louisiana

My dream tied on like a red bandana

Lambert mirrors that sentiment in her verse. She likens herself to a mockingbird that’s always searching for a song to sing. Even with that dream, like Wilson, she finds time to put that dream on pause and head for home.

“‘Good Horses’ is all about finding your way back home, no matter where you are,” Wilson said in a press statement.

“‘Good Horses’ is about all the people that love the comfort of home, but also need to be free,” Lambert added. “Lainey and I wrote this song at my farm with Luke Dick. Lainey is a genuine and authentic human. I love watching her dreams come true right in front of our eyes, and it’s so cool to be a little part of it.”
