Country singer/songwriter and Grand Ole Opry member Jeannie Seely has recently been hospitalized in Pennsylvania. The news of the hospitalization came via a statement from the musician’s reps.

Seely checked into a Pennsylvanian hospital for symptoms of dehydration as well as acute diverticulitis. The latter condition is defined as the inflammation of the walls of the large intestine. This condition can cause a whole host of symptoms, from pain to nausea to fever. Luckily, it is quite treatable with the use of antibiotics.

However, Seely is currently 84 years old (with respect), and this condition can be worrisome for someone at her age. Luckily, it looks like Seely has already been released from the hospital after recieving treatment for the condition.

According to reports, Seely was visiting her home state in order to attend an event honoring her legacy in country music and songwriting. When she began to feel ill, she was taken to St. Clare Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Jeannie Seely’s Reps Speak out About Her Health

The statement released by Seely’s reps noted that the singer/songwriter was incredibly grateful to the medical professionals who helped her.

“It had not crossed my mind to visit a hospital on my trip home, but when it became necessary, it was yet another opportunity to experience Pennsylvania hospitality,” Seely said in the statement. “I could not have received better care or more respect than I did at St. Clare Hospital in Pittsburgh or the courtesy shown at Pittsburgh International Airport.”

As of August 12, Seely has been released from the hospital and is allegedly doing well.

Jeannie Seely was one of many country legends who made it big in the 1960s, when she earned the nickname “Miss Country Soul”. She’s known for hits like “Sentimental Journey” and “Can I Sleep In Your Arms”.

Seely has received quite a bit of recognition for her singing and songwriting talents as well. She earned a Grammy Award and a coveted star on the Music City Walk Of Fame. She is also currently a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In particular, she is part of the “Grand Ladies Of The Opry”, which includes the likes of Jean Shepard and Jeanne Pruett.

Seely is also known for being the very first woman to host a segment at the Opry, where she continues to perform today. We wish Miss Country Soul nothing but the best as she recovers from her illness.
