Post Malone has been teasing his pivot to country music for quite some time now. Those efforts will come to fruition this Friday (Aug. 16,) when the already gold-certified F-1 Trillion makes its debut. The album tracklist reads like a Who’s Who of Nashville, featuring duets with everyone from Sierra Ferrell to Luke Combs. On Sunday (Aug. 11,) the “White Iverson” rapper further teased the crowd at his Outside Lands Festival set with a cover of Combs’ “When It Rains It Pours.” And it turns out Post’s rendition is Luke Combs-approved.

Post Malone: “This Is The Song That Got Me Into Luke”

Luke Combs scored his second-ever No. 1 country hit with “When It Rains It Pours,” the lighthearted second single from his 2017 studio debut This One’s For You. Recently, the track became Combs’ third to achieve Diamond certification status from the RIAA.

Taking the stage at the 2024 Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco, California, Post Malone posed a question to the crowd. “Can I do a little Combs song for you?” asked the GRAMMY nominee, to raucous applause.

“This is the song that got me into Luke,” continued Post, 29. “Wherever you are, Luke, I love you so very f—ing much. Let’s f—ing rock and roll, ladies and gentlemen!”

Post picked up his red solo cup and launched into his rendition of the rare uptempo country breakup song: Sunday morning, man, she woke up fightin’ mad / B—-in’ and moanin’ on and on.

The audience loved it—and so, apparently, did Combs. The “Fast Car” singer shared a clip of the performance to his Instagram story Tuesday (Aug. 13.)

“Hope Post never leaves country music cause this era is everything,” wrote one impressed fan on YouTube.

Another added, “Formally requesting more Luke Combs covers by Posty.”

Hear Post Malone and Luke Combs Team Up

After first teasing fans all the way back in February, Post Malone dropped “Guy For That,” his heartbreaking duet with Luke Combs, on July 26.

The song has been well received, hitting No. 17 on last week’s Billboard Hot 100. With F-1 Trillion set to feature collabs with Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and Dolly Parton, there’s likely more where that came from.
