Post Malone made his Grand Ole Opry debut last night, August 14, two days before his country album, F-1 Trillion, is set to drop. He performed duets with a few country legends and friends, and played some songs from the new album as well. Brad Paisley originally invited Post to join the Opry, and he was on hand to welcome the country newcomer to make his debut.

Under the spotlight, in the legendary circle of the Grand Ole Opry House, Post Malone admitted to being “terrified and honored.” He’s been genuine about his nerves in the past, notably telling Reba McEntire that he was nervous during his performance at the ACM Awards. However, Post has also been genuine about his gratitude to the country music genre for accepting him with open arms.

Post kicked off his performance by inviting Vince Gill to the stage. They performed a duet of Gill’s “One More Last Chance.” Then, John Michael Montgomery came out on stage as Post prepared for another duet. They sang Montgomery’s hit “Be My Baby Tonight.”

After two duets, Post Malone gave the gathered crowd a taste of F-1 Trillion. Lainey Wilson—who recently became an Opry member herself—came out on stage to assist with her collaboration, “Nosedive,” in the song’s first live showing. Before she left the stage following the song, she had a few words.

“Welcome to country music, Post Malone,” she said. “We’re glad to have you.” Truly, the country music genre has welcomed and accepted Post Malone without question, often citing his childhood in Grapevine, Texas and his family’s love of country as catalysts in this journey.

Brad Paisley returned to take his part with Post on his collaboration “Goes Without Saying.” Next, while Chris Stapleton couldn’t be there to perform their soon-to-be-released collaboration, The War and Treaty were brought out to assist. The husband and wife duo delivered a powerful performance alongside Post, who previously teased this song on social media. However, that’s all fans have received of the Post-Stapleton collab. Lucky fans at the Opry, however, were given a preview.

Post concluded the show on his own, taking his Morgan Wallen collaboration solo, as he often does. “I Had Some Help” is truly the theme of the album, and of the night. Post Malone’s love letter to country music was made with “some help” from country legends and big names in the genre, and they contributed to his Opry debut as well.
