While first airing back in 2006, CMT Giants set out to honor some of the biggest names in country music. But besides just gaining fame in the genre, CMT wanted those who helped shape the future of country music. Over the years, the event honored stars like Kenny Rogers, Charley Pride, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, and even Vince Gill. And the list of singers who performed at the CMT Giants is even longer. With CMT Giants deciding to celebrate the rich legacy of Alabama, Blake Shelton took the stage alongside Kara Britz and Steve Wariner for a special performance on “Old Flame.”

First formed in the late 1960s, Alabama blended its love for bluegrass, folk, and country into a career that continues today. Throughout their time in the spotlight, the group released over 20 studio albums. And their list of hits appears to echo through each decade. But for Shelton, he decided to take fans of the band back to the 1980s with “Old Flame.” Released on the Feels So Right album, the song helped the record dominate the charts.

Blake Shelton Taking Over Las Vegas

Outside of celebrating the rich history of country music, Shelton prepared to take over Las Vegas as he announced his new residency. Performing at Caesars Palace, Shelton will helm six shows starting on February 5 and running through February 15.

While having spent a great deal of time on the hit show The Voice, Shelton decided to take a break from television to focus more time on his music career and family. Although seeming to enjoy his time off, the hitmaker caught the eye of Caesars Palace. The casino released a statement, insisting, “Blake Shelton has spent two decades pouring out boot-stomping bangers, heartbreak anthems and endearing odes to love gone wrong and right. Shelton takes that same spirit to work on everything he does, from sold-out tours to instantly identifiable chart-topping songs or national television shows.”

Besides a glowing recommendation from Caesars Palace, Shelton’s residency is a must-see for those looking to mix country with the thrills of Sin City.
