Foreigner Teases “Special Announcement” That May Involve a New Song Featuring Original Frontman Lou Gramm

Foreigner is teasing a “very special announcement” on its social media pages that will officially be revealed on Tuesday, August 20, although details may already have made their way online. According to a page on Amazon.com, a new Foreigner hits compilation titled Turning Back the Time will be released on October 4, and it will include a new, unreleased tune featuring the group’s original frontman Lou Gramm and the band’s founding leader Mick Jones.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees have posted two messages this week with regard to the impending announcement. The first note, which was posted on Friday, August 16, reads, “A very special announcement is coming Tuesday, August 20th. Any guesses?” It’s accompanied by an archival video of Gramm and Foreigner performing a rocking version of “Urgent.”

The second message, which was posted on Monday, August 19, features a video showing a jukebox with various Foreigner songs. An unseen person then pushes the number 6, which corresponds to a song titled “Turn Back the Time.” A brief instrumental segment of the tune is heard before the video ends. The post also includes a brief note that reads, simply, “Tomorrow,” followed by a clock emoji.

According to Amazon, Turning Back the Time is a career-spanning compilation that timed to arrive just before Foreigner’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The album also will precede the 40th anniversaries of Foreigner’s classic chart-topping ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is” and its fifth studio album, Agent Provocateur.

Amazon also notes that Turning Back the Time will be available as a two-CD collection, two-LP set, and a limited-edition crystal-clear vinyl package.

More About Foreigner’s Rock Hall Induction

As previously reported, Foreigner is among the acts that will be inducted into the Rock Hall this year in the Performer category. The ceremony will take place on October 19 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.

The event will stream live on Disney+. A highlights special will air on ABC at a later date, and will be available on Hulu the next day.

Foreigner currently is in the middle of The Renegades & Juke Box Heroes co-headlining tour with Styx. The trek, which features John Waite as the support act, runs through a September 20 concert in Memphis.

After the outing with Styx wraps up, Foreigner will play a series of fall headlining shows. The band’s 2024 itinerary winds down with a seven-date Las Vegas residency at The Venetian theater, scheduled from October 25 through November 8.
